Are you scared?
All hail the Queen! Angelina Jolie is here to scare you out of your wits with her lethal avatar as the Queen Maleficent in Disney’s magnum opus. The first look of the film Maleficent is out.
A new twist to the fairytale Sleeping Beauty, the movie narrates the story from the perspective of the antagonist, Maleficent, Disney’s most iconic villain. The movie will show all the events that led to Maleficent's stone-heartedness, also focusing on her early life, and how she rose to be a protector of her kingdom. The movie’s crux though is her quest for revenge by cursing Princess Aurora after being betrayed.
The trailer which runs for more than a minute is more of a shadowy play. It builds up the character of Queen Maleficent. The trailer also has Angelina Jolie’s cute daughter Vivienne shown as the little Aurora playing on the luscious field. As per reports, Angelina persuaded the makers to cast Vivienne as she thought she was perfect as Aurora.
The drama gets intense in the trailer when a grown-up Aurora, played by Elle Fanning, asks Maleficent to show her face. “I know who you are. You've been watching over me my whole life,” says Aurora. “I know you're there. Your shadow, it's been following me ever since I was small. Don't be afraid,” the princess assures.
To which Maleficent says she's not afraid and then Aurora urges her to come out. “Then you'll be afraid,” declares the self-proclaimed Mistress of All Evil in her husky voice, warning the young princess.
Even though the trailer is dark and grim, the viewers will be delighted to see the enchanted forest done with some awesome special effects, and don’t miss the Maleficent’s dark world, all clogged up with green smoke.
No wonder Angelina Jolie's Maleficent is a big Disney release lined up for the summer of 2014. It will hit the theaters on May 30. Catch here the first trailer of the film:
