Hit shows of 2013
Indian television has changed and evolved rapidly in the last few years. Now, it has become more glamorous and much bigger with shows like 24 and Mahabharat hitting the tube. The year 2013 was good for both fictional and reality shows. Here’s the lowdown on what clicked with the audiences this year.
While the saas-bahu soaps continue to rule the roost, Sab TV's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is the only comedy show that features in the top 10 most-watched shows of 2013. The top slot, though, goes to Star Plus' Diya Aur Baati Hum starring Anas Rashid and Deepika Singh. Other popular serials in the list are Zee TV’s Qubool Hai, Jodha-Akbar, and Star Plus' Veera.
Now, coming to the shows that made their debut in 2013 and lured the audiences with their unique concept. First, is of course, Anil Kapoor’s 24 -- a trend setter. When launched, the show was touted as the next big thing, and it lived up to the expectations. Written by Rensil D’Silva, the show is being directed by the Delhi Belly fame Abhinay Deo. Seeing the success of the thriller, the makers are now contemplating the second season. Star Plus’ magnum opus Mahabharat also started with a bang, and is having a good run.
Among the reality shows, Bigg Boss 7 enjoyed a massive fan following and is undeniably the No.1 reality show on TV this year.
