War film ‘Lone Survivor’ starring Mark Wahlberg is all set to release this January; while the movie will hit the screens in the US on 10th, it will reportedly make its way to India on 17th.
‘Lone Survivor’ received a standing ovation at its red carpet premiere held at the Ziegfeld Theatre in LA in December 2013; we certainly are looking forward to watching this one.
The film is based on the failed June 28, 2005 mission ‘Operation Red Wings’ which took place in the Pech District of Afghanistan's Kunar Province. Four members of the SEAL Team 10 were tasked with the mission of capturing or killing Taliban leader Ahmad Shah.
The trailers and spots released so far have been fantastic. Not only action, the film also focuses on the emotional bond between the SEAL Team 10 men who were assigned the task.
‘Lone Survivor’ is based on the 2007 nonfiction book of the same name by Marcus Luttrell (the ‘lone survivor’ of the mission) and Patrick Robinson. The screenplay of the film is based on Luttrell's book, US Navy documents, autopsy and incident reports related to the mission.
Catch the trailer below and some stills from the film on the pages that follow.
