One love, two states
It is one of the most-anticipated movie adaptations of the year. 2 States is bringing Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor together for the first time on celluloid. Here is the first official look of the movie showing the two stars as Krish and Ananya.
When writer Chetan Bhagat told his story of marriage in his novel 2 States, his fans loved it! The quirky love story of two IIM students coming from two different states made for an interesting read. Indeed the novel has all the right ingredients to be a Bollywood movie, and producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar have made this possible.
Alia Bhatt as Ananya Swaminathan will be seen as a Tamil Brahmin girl, who falls in love with Punjabi boy Krish Malhotra, played by Arjun Kapoor in 2 States. Going by the looks of the two actors, they suit the part. Alia as Ananya, who prefers wearing desi attires, looks vivacious, and the bespectacled Arjun Kapoor is adorable as the boy-next-door Krish. Together the duo looks smashing! Also there are reports of a brewing romance between the two off-screen.
While for Arjun Kapoor it was easy to be a Punjabi munda as he is one, it was tough for Alia Bhatt to play a Tamil girl. According to Sajid Nadiadwala, “Alia has played the first non-caricatural South Indian character in our films. Normally when we show South Indians in our films they have think accents, and if it’s a women from the South she will have gajra in her hair and will go ‘Aiyo yo’ every five minutes. Alia Bhat does none of that.”
The movie also has Amrita Singh playing Arjun’s feisty mother, and popular South actress Revathy as Alia’s mom. TV actor Ronit Roy will be seen as Arjun’s father. The trailer launch of 2 States on February 28 is going to be a big event with cast and crew in attendance.
Storyline: Welcome to 2 States, a story about Krish and Ananya. They are from two different states of India, deeply in love and want to get married. Of course, their parents don’t agree. To convert their love story into a love marriage, the couple has a tough battle ahead of them. For it is easy to fight and rebel, but it is much harder to convince. Will they make it?
