On the last day of the shoot, Sushant Singh Rajput was spotted in a completely deglam look. A muffler-clad Sushant dressed in loose shirt and pleated pants was almost unrecognizable. For the movie, Sushant has mostly donned dhotis and crisp kurtas as the plot is set in the 40s. A mouche and oiled hair are also part of his look.
Dibakar Banerjee is mighty impressed with Sushant, whom he signed for the film because, “He (Sushant) is very natural, subtle and credit goes to him for efficiently portraying Manav (in ‘Pavitra Rishta’). The second reason is he is modern and I wanted a young, vulnerable actor.”
‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’ is produced by Yash Raj Films and is slated to hit theatres in December 2014. It is based on one of the 33 crime thrillers penned between 1932 and 1970 by the famed Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandopadhyay, who was deeply influenced by ‘Sherlock Holmes’ of Arthur Conan Doyle.
However, the audiences know about the detective Byomkesh Bakshi because of the popular TV serial aired on Doordarshan in the year 1993. The critically-acclaimed serial was directed by Basu Chatterjee.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s look may not come close to that of Rajit Kapur from the popular serial, but we are sure he can convincingly carry off the complex character with utter ease on big screen.
