The song ‘Bismil’ is full of symbolism one can expect from a filmmaker like Vishal Bhardwaj. Set in the Sun Temple, the song has Shahid Kapoor dancing to a folksy melody and crooning the ballad of a ‘bulbul’ entrapped by a ‘baaz’.
The allusion is towards his onscreen mother (played by Tabu) and his uncle (played by Kay Kay Menon). Based on Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Haider tells the story of a young lad seeking vengeance from his uncle for killing his father and entrapping his mother.
