In the latest ‘A Walk among the Tombstones’ TV spot, private investigator Matt Scudder (Liam Neeson) meets a drug kingpin whose wife has been recently kidnapped; Scudder is hired to hunt the men behind this. So when Scudder manages to find a prospective informer who could lead him to the gang, the guy jumps off the terrace and commits suicide since he is scared of being killed by the ‘monsters’.
‘Whoever took your wife didn’t just pick your name out of the hat,’ Scudder tells the drug kingpin. The film looks brutal, and the weak-hearted might have a tough time seeing all the merciless killings. BTW, the film is based on Lawrence Block’s namesake novel. Block recently said: “Readers often ask who'd be my ideal Matt Scudder, and I usually change the subject. But now it's safe to tell you that, ever since I saw him in Michael Collins, Neeson has been up at the top of my personal Scudder wish list. I couldn't be happier about either the star or the writer/director, both of them genuine artists and brilliant professionals. My book's in good hands.”
