Kaal is a suspense thriller about six people who find themselves stranded in the middle of a jungle. The film marks the directorial debut of Soham Shah who has earlier assisted Karan Johar and Ram Gopal Varma.
Jointly produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, the film stars John Abraham, Esha Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Lara Dutta and Ajay Devgan.
John Abraham plays a conservationist, wildlife researcher Krish who comes to Jim Corbett National Park along with his photographer wife Riya (Esha Deol) to search the answers for mysterious deaths in the forest.
Vivek Oberoi plays a flamboyant character named Dev and Lara Dutta plays his superstitious girlfriend Ishika. The two come to the forest with a group of friends for an adventure trip for the weekend.
The two groups decide to stick together in the wilderness. But it is not long before the mysteries of the jungle begin to unravel in the most gruesome way. The visitors can feel the presence of some beast close by. Now the only escape from sure death for them is to find a way out of the jungle.
Ajay Devgan plays Kali Pratap Singh, a rustic man who is well acquainted with the jungle and the wildlife in it. Kali decides to help the stranded group to escape out of the forest.
