Kyon Ki is a tale of two relationships, three lovers and a plethora of emotions.
Salman Khan plays Anand, a charming, handsome young man. Kareena Kapoor plays Dr. Tanvi - understanding and compassionate.
Rimi Sen plays the first lover of Salman in the film. This is the third film in which she is directed by Priyadarshan after Hungama and Garam Masala . Jackie Shroff, who has become increasingly choosy about his films, plays a stellar role in the film. He was directed by Priyadarshan ten years ago in 'Gardish'.
'Kyon Ki' is passionate love story twisted by fate at its imaginative best. Anand is madly in love with his sweetheart (Rimi), all set to marry her. Until one day fate intervenes, and robs him of the life he'd planned.
Anand is accused of the murder of his wife and is declared mentally unstable.
In unexpected places, against unexpected odds, romance blooms between Anand and Dr. Tanvi. The stunning Dr. Tanvi is caught in the crossfire of emotions. Torn between her professional duty to help Anand and her personal feelings for him.
Anand and Tanvi must fight a rigid society and a twisted medical system to keep their love alive. At a recent press conference in New York, Salman said that the role of a mentally unstable killer, which he is playing in 'Kyon Ki', was easy for him. He was mentally unstable in the latter part of Tere Naam also.
This will be for the first time that the pair of Salman and Kareena will be seen on screen. Salman said he initially thought it was awkward to do a romantic role with the girl he has seen grow up ever since she was a child.
'Kyon Ki' is based on the Malayalam movie 'Thalavattam', which had Malayalam megastar Mohanlal in the male lead and the versatile actor bagged all the awards of that year for his amazing performance.
Paying compliment to Mohanlal Salman said, " I didn't see 'Thalavattam' because I didn't want to be complexed by Mr. Mohanlal's work. However, I would like him to see 'Kyon Ki' and tell me what he feels about my work."
