'Saawan - The Love Season'

The very look of Salman Khan’s character in Saawan Kumar’s upcoming film Saawan - The Love Season says it all. His long, tousled hair, disheveled, unshaven look and glazed expression in eyes verily befit the unusual character Salman plays in the film.

In the film, Salman plays a character who has been at the doorstep of death and has come back alive. In his resurrected life, Salman acquires the power to see into the future and foresee calamities.

Directed by Saawan Kumar, the movie stars Salman Khan ,

Kapil Jhaveri , Saloni Aswani , Prem Chopra, Ranjeet, Bobby Darling, Kiran Rathod and Johnny Lever.

The movie marks the coming together of Salman Khan and director Saawan Kumar after the early 1990’s box-office hit Sanam Bewafa and the flop Chaand Ka Tukda.

The movie’s other two stars, Kapil Jhaveri and Saloni Aswani, have previously acted in Saawan Kumar’s 'Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya'. The film was a failure at the box-office.

Saloni is a model turned actress. She started with theatre and modeling, and then slowly graduated to movies. She made her acting debut in Telugu films. She is looking forward to act in Marathi films as she considers herself “a true Mumbaikar” and can speak chaste Marathi.

She is also acting in a film with Jimmy Shergill.

There have been rumours that Salman’s role in ‘Saawan - The Love Season’ is just an extended guest appearance. But the director claims otherwise.

In the film, Salman makes an entry just 11 minutes before the interval and stays on until the climax.

As mentioned before, Salman plays a prescient character who can see calamities and unfortunate events that lie in future. In one such premonition, he makes a shocking prediction to the movie’s heroine Saloni Aswani when she is about to marry her sweetheart.

In the film, Salman himself shot for a stunt scene in which he rescues the heroine, Saloni Aswani, on mid-street from a mishap. To make the scene more authentic, Salman refused to use a duplicate and performed the stunt himself between two speeding vehicles.

The scene in the film comes at a turning point in the story.

‘Saawan’ also features a 7-minute qawwali number Tu Bula Le, picturized on Salman. The number is composed by Aadesh Srivastava.

The movie also has a parallel comedy track on Johnny Lever and Bobby Darling. Many parts of the film have been shot at the picturesque locales of Cape Town.

Salman’s heroine in the film is Kiran Rathod, who played a small role as Hrithik Roshan's fiancée in 'Yaadein' and went on to do a small part in 'Jaani Dushman' as well.

‘Saawan’ will hit the theatres on April 7.
