'Zinda'

Zinda is a story which explores the world of crime by integrating thrills, revenge, drama, intrigue and suspense.

The dashing Sanjay Dutt plays the male lead role of Balajeet Roy in the film. It is said to be one of the most challenging roles ever by the deadly Dutt.

John Abraham plays Rohit Chopra. This is John’s first film with Dutt.

Lara Dutta , who delivered a hit in No Entry last year. She starred with John in Kaal (though not opposite him), but this is the first time she is tarring with Dutt. She plays Jenny Singh.

Celina Jaitley starred with Lara in ‘No Entry’, but this is her first film with Dutt and John. She plays Nisha Roy.

Mahesh Manjrekar , the director who is nowadays seen more in front of the camera than behind it, plays Joy Fernandes.

Balajeet Roy has a lovely wife Nisha (Celina) and he was beginning to feel comfortable in the city of his dreams – Bangkok. In the company of Nisha, things always seemed promising. Life took a turn for better when Nisha realized that she was going to give Bala a baby soon.

But would Bala be able to see the arrival of the newborn? Because his life was going to be snatched away from him soon.

Bizarre incident happens in their lives when Bala finds himself locked at a place about which he is not aware of. Neither is this place a prison nor has he been kidnapped. He has been just kept in the confines of a small, dark and a dirty room where his only link to civilization is an old television set.

What is Bala’s crime? Which is this place? Who are his captives? When would he come out?

No one knows the answers, not even Bala. Because in spite of all his cries to the outside world, no one is willing to respond. He is there - ALL ALONE. And his one and only option in life is – WAIT.

A wait that lasts for an entire fourteen years! When a moment of separation from your loved ones can make you insane then one can't even imagine the plight of Bala who is not even aware about his misdeed and is still locked away in isolation.

But Bala does not give up. Because now he is no more a human being. He is an animal. An animal who has continued to wait for all these years only to know about two things that matter most in his life. What is his crime and who are his captives?

Bala builds up his fighting skills while being held captive, as he is still hopeful that he would be released one day and then he could take revenge! So does he get a chance to take revenge?

After a long wait for 14 years, just as quickly as he found himself bundled in a room, the same way he finds himself facing the world. A world that has changed drastically since the time he last set his foot out.

Bala has just four days and in these four days he realizes that his freedom too was a part of the plan. The plan of the same people who got him in and have let him out now.

In this complex plot, what role does Rohit Chopra (John) play? Who is Jenny (Lara) and does Joy Fernandes (Manjrekar) have any influence in Bala's life?

Produced and directed by Sanjay Gupta and slated to release on 12 January, (Thursday because it’s Friday the 13th in January), 'Zinda' comes after Kaante and Musafir and appears to be the darkest movie ever by Gupta and tells you a story never told before on Indian screen
