'Varsha' A Family Entertainer

‘Hitler’ Madhavan Kutty was a fine feather in Megastar Mammootty's acting career cap. It saw Mammootty in a different role, which went down well with the Malayalai audience.

It was later made in Telugu. The Telugu version featuring Chiranjeevi also did well at the box office.

Varsha

is the Kannada version of ‘Hitler’. As luck would have it, the Kannada rehash is also doing well.

In the Kannada remake, superstar Vishnuvardhan has done Mammootty's role in the Malayalam original.

Sathyamurthy (Vishnuvardhan) is a lovable character. A man with no vices, Sathyamurthy has a large family consisting of five sisters to look after and dote on.

The name Hitler sticks to him because Sathyamurthy is very protective about his sisters. He is extremely strict when it comes to his sisters.

Woe betide anyone who dares to cross the path of his sisters.

Such is his love and affection for his sisters that Sathyamurthy has forgotten to ‘live’ his own life! He is happy in his own little world.

But then the path of life is never smooth. A minor misunderstanding results in one of the sisters walking out on Sathyamurthy. The audacious sister not only defies the ‘Hitler’ brother, but also marries her lover!

As if this bolt from the blue is not enough, another sister ends up marrying a widower with two children. ‘Hitler’ Sathyamurthy's world of bliss comes apart in a trice.

A heartbroken Sathyamurthy suspects the hands of his relatives behind these happenings and sets about repairing the damage.

In the end, Sathya succeeds in clearing the cobwebs of misunderstanding and regains his blissful empire.

Vishnuvardhan has done the title role in style, ably supported by Ramesh, Anu Prabhakar. The five sisters too give a good account of themselves.

The family entertainer has its dash of humour too.

Veteran Srinivasamurthy, Doddanna, Tennis Krishna pitch in with their excellent comedy acts. An asset of the film is crisp dialogues.

It also represents the debut film of comely actress Manya, who does full justice to her role.

However Rajkumar has not been able to do justice to the music, which is one of the drawbacks of an otherwise entertaining film.

Still, in conclusion, it must be said that director S Narayanan has not disappointed those who want to watch a family entertainer.

Worth watching.
