The hiccups are over, and at last megastar Mohanlal’s Vadakkumnathan is due for release on November 18.
The Shajoon Karyal-directed film of megastar Mohanlal was scheduled to be released on Diwali day, but a host of problems prevented the film seeing the light of the day.
This is the first time Mohanlal and Shajoon are working together.
Vadakkumnathan focuses on the trials and tribulations Sanskrit Professor Bharat Pisharody (played by Mohanlal) faces in his life. Meera (Padmapriya) is Mohanlal’s love angle in the film. Meera, his student and cousin, is all set to marry him!
But fate intervenes. Just as the marriage date is fixed, Bharat Pisharody goes missing. What happened to him? The rest of the film unearths the mystery behind the disappearance of the professor.
The music of Vadakkumnathan has already become immensely popular. Two of the songs set to tune by the late Ravindran – this was his last film – “Kalabham Tharam” and “Gange” have caught public fancy.
While camera is handled by S. Kumar, the film, a large portion of which was shot in Haridwar, Rishikesh and Puri, has been produced by Baba Movies.
Apart from Mohanlal, the cast includes Murali, Padmapriya, Biju Menon, Balachandra Menon and Kalabhavan Mani.
