'Pacha Kuthirai' - Namitha sizzles

Parthiban’s ‘Pacha Kuthirai’ has nothing to commend itself except Namitha . The actor, who is struggling to stay afloat in Kollywood, has used the hottest babe in Tamil cinema to boost his brand equity.

With Namitha dominating the show, ‘Pacha Kuthirai’ is a voyeur’s delight. Parthi had difficulty finding an actress to do the role. First he contacted Meera Jasmine , who shied away from it. Then Parthiban approached Namy baby, who said yes, much to his relief.

Initial

reports say the film is doing well in C grade centres. Of course, it is meant for the front-benchers out to ogle female flesh on the silver screen.

Parthiban has penned the story and screenplay in such a manner that it offers ample scope for Nami to display her anatomical assets and indulge in double entenders.

Pachamuthu (Parthiban) is a rowdy staying in a slum. He is feared and hated by one and all. People stay away from him because of his rough and ready methods and explosive temper.

One day he happens to be at a marriage pandal and, by chance, gets to watch the bride Poovu (Namitha) getting dressed. No wonder, Pacha falls hook line and sinker for the bosomy belle. He creates a scene at the marriage pandal and manages to marry Poovu himself. As the ardour cools, Poovu, good at heart, realises that her husband is a feared and reviled character.

One day, Pachai pretends to be dead, wanting to test his standing in the village. Instead of mourning him, the villagers actually celebrate the death! That proves an eye-opener.

Then begins the turning point in his life. He now turns a do-gooder, bashes up baddies including a bunch of ruthless moneylenders (headed by ‘Kathal’ Dandapani) and rushes to the help of villagers who start liking him. Poovu, who had walked out on him also returns.

Parthiban has heavily leant on the theory that sex sells. It may, given the encouraging collection record.

After all, who would miss a chance to watch Namitha dress even as the camera lovingly lingers on her ample curves.

Oozing oomph apart, Namitha, for once, proves that she can emote too. That is a big change. Sexual innuendoes, vulgar dialogue and a well-endowed Namitha – it is a heady mix that titillates the voyeur!

All said and done, ‘Pacha Kuthirai’ is a flick that seeks to sell on the strength of sheer sex and sleaze. The question is: can Namitha bail Parthiban out? The answer is in the womb of future.
