Thavamani Thavamirunthu is actor-director Cheran’s Diwali gift to Tamil cinema. It is a film much looked forward to as Cheran is back in action after a long sabbatical.
His earlier film, ‘Autograph’, had won three national awards. It was also a big hit with Tamil audience, apart from being critically well acclaimed.
In Thavamani Thavamirunthu Cheran turns the spotlight on parent-offspring relationship. The tensions of raising children and the duties of the offspring towards their parents form the theme of Thavamani Thavamirunthu.
A highlight of this film is that besides directing and scripting it, Cheran plays the lead role too.
It also signals the Tamil debut of Telugu actress Padmapriya, who has already made a mark in Malayalam cinema with a brilliant performance in the Mammootty-starrer Kazhcha .
Others in the cast include Rajkiran (a permanent feature in Cheran films), Ilavarasu and Saranya.
MS Prabhu is the cinematographer and Sabesh-Murali, the music composer.
