Rinke: Another one bites the ‘Southern dust’

Going, going, gone. There goes another one to the southern shores for solace after a bad spell in Bollywood. It’s Mama Dimple’s baby girl Rinke Khanna doing the southern act now.

Though she hails from family with a solid filmi background, Rinke seemed to have been standing on shaky ground in tinsel-town. Her debut in Bollywood with Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi failed to give her the required boost to her career.

Even the much hyped Govinda starrer Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai did very little to color up her career. So, she went ahead and did what a couple of Bollywood femmes did whose careers were on the stumbling block – move down south.

Rinke has gone ahead and signed director Ravi Chandran's latest project. Southern favorite Prashant plays the hero in the masala flick. Rinke plays a conservative Muslim girl from Calcutta who comes to Madras and gets caught up in a crisis situation. In walks the hero and saves the damsel in distress and they naturally fall for each other. And as usual, their love story goes through the grind. Here the ever-ugly cast system plays spoilt sport. The rest is anybody’s guess.

Hope Rinke finds solace in her southern sojourn.
