Kaho Na Pyar Hai... the year 2000's biggest blockbuster has clinched nine out of 15 nominations in the popular awards category for the fourth Zee Cine Awards.
The film, which saw the rise of a new superstar, Hrithik Roshan, has already swept the Filmfare awards. Apart from Kaho na pyar hai.., Dhadkan, Kya Kehna, Mission Kashmir and Mohabbatein will vie for the best film award.
In the best actor category, Hrithik will have a tough competition from the Big B - Amitabh Bachchan, who has been nominated for his role in Mohabbatein.
Along with Amitabh, Anil Kapoor (Pukar), Sanjay Dutt (Mission Kashmir) and Shahrukh Khan (Mohabbatein) are also in the fray for the best actor award. Aishwarya Rai (Humara Dil Apke Pas Hai), Karisma Kapoor (Fiza), Madhuri Dixit (Pukar), Preity Zinta (Kya Kehna) and Tabu (Astitva) are also in contest for the best actress trophy. While, Aditya Chopra (Mohabbatein), Dharmesh Darshan (Dhadkan), Kundan Shah (Kya Kehna), Rakesh Roshan (Kaho Na Pyar Hai...), Vidhu Vinod Chopra (Mission Kashmir) are in the race for the best director award.
The categories and the nominations for the popular awards include Dhadkan, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Kya Kehna, Mission Kashmir and Mohabattein, and for Best Actress in supporting role Aishwarya Rai, Jaya Bachchan, Mahima Chaudhary, Sonali Bendre, Sonali Kulkarni have been nominated. Best Actor/Actress in comic role has Anupam Kher, Govinda, Johnny Lever, Kader Khan and Paresh Rawal in the fray while Best Actor in villain role has Anupam Kher, Ashish Vidyarthi, Ashutosh Rana, Rahul Dev and Sushant Singh.
Best Music Director nominations are Anu Malik (Fiza), Jatin-Lalit (Mohabattein), Nadeem-Shravan (Dhadkan), Rajesh Roshan has two nominations for Kaho Na Pyar Hai and Kya Kehna.
Best Debut Male nominations has the names of Abhishek Bachchan, Bikram Saluja, Hrithik Roshan, Rahul Dev and Uday Chopra and Best Debut Female nominations are Amisha Patel, Kareena Kapoor, Keerthi Reddy, Preeti Jhingiani and Shamita Shetty.
The popular awards will be presented on March 17, 2001, and the special award ceremony for the nominees in Technical categories will be held on March 3, 2001.
