Police on Monday filed a charge-sheet against Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who was arrested in a hit-and-run case.
A charge sheet was filed against the actor in a court of a magistrate who remanded him to further judicial custody till October 31 after turning down his fresh bail plea.
Metropolitan magistrate S Y Sisode rejected Salman’s application on the plea that he had no jurisdiction to grant bail. The actor would once again move the session court for bail. This was his fourth attempt at taking the bomb.
The actor's lawyer, A Anand urged for discharge of Salman from the case on the grounds that offence under section 304 part two IPC was not made out. The court will hear his plea on October 31.
His father Salim Khan, his mother and stepmother Helen were allowed to meet Salman outside the court for 15 minutes. Among others present were brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri, brother Arbaaz Khan, actor Puneet Issar and actor Kishen Kumar, brother of late Gulshan Kumar.
Salman was brought to the court from Thane jail. He had allegedly rammed his vehicle into a bakery on September 28 in suburban Bandra, killing one person and injuring four others.
Salman has been charged with ten offences under IPC, Motor Vehicles Act and Prohibition Act, punishable with jail terms ranging from one year to ten years.
He has been charged with sections 304 part two IPC (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 279 IPC (rash driving), 337 IPC (act dangerous to lives of others) and 338 IPC (causing grievous hurt to others).
