Former Censor Board chairman, Vijay Anand, popularly known as Goldie, passed away early on Monday morning, according to hospital sources in Mumbai.
The 71-year-old Vijay Anand, was brought to Leelavati Hospital on February 21 and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest.
He was suggested a bypass surgery earlier, but the filmmaker had not undergone the operation, Dr Narendra Trivedi, attending on Anand, said.
The celebrated actor-director was the brother of Dev Anand and Chetan Anand. He was the director of films like: Nau Do Gyarah (1957), Kala Bazar (1960), Tere Ghar Ke Saamne (1963), Guide (1965), Teesri Manzil (1966), Jewel Thief (1967), Kahin Aur Chal (1968), Johny Mera Naam (1970), Tere Mere Sapne (1971), Chhupa Rustam (1973), Blackmail (1973), Bullet (1976), Ram Balraam (1980), Rajput (1982).
