A local court in Jodhpur today rejected the prosecution's plea for cancellation of bail of Salman Khan facing trial in a poaching case.
Accepting the arguments of Khan's counsel Hastimal Saraswat that the bail can be cancelled only by the court which had granted it, Chief Judicial Magistrate Praveer Bhatnagar rejected the application moved by the prosecution last month.
The prosecution had sought cancellation of the bail of the actor and others accused of hunting protected wild animals in 1998, near Jodhpur, on the ground that they were influencing witnesses.
Saraswat contended that the bail of Khan was granted by Sessions Court and of others by the High Court. Therefore, the same could not be cancelled by CJM court.
The hunting incident had occurred in September 1998 when Salman was participating in the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya's film Hum Saath Saath Hain in and around Jodhpur city.
