But the octogenarian veteran still has no plans to retire as he says he is constantly thinking and conceiving new ideas. For actor Devdutt Pishorimal Anand, popularly known as Dev Anand, who completed 81 today, the day is as special as any other day. "Every day is special to me", he is quoted to have said. 
Ask him about his driving force and pat comes the reply, "I belong to the people. I am constantly thinking, innovating and conceiving new ideas", he said. "It is my creative instincts that keep me going", the actor said. Commenting on Marathi film 'Shwaas' being India's entry at the Oscars, he said, "It is irrespective whether a film is in Hindi or Marathi. A good film is a good film, irrespective of the language. The language transcends the medium of films", he said. "We should not worry over the language but take pride that a film is Indian", he said. On India's inability to notch up an Oscar despite good entries in the past, he said, "There is a lot of competition out there. We have to compete with the whole world. One must not restrict oneself to thinking that because it is an Indian film it is the best. Every country thinks its film is the best.
