SCOOP!! & NEWS Mughal-e Azam in colour premiered in Mumbai11th Nov 2004 09.17 IST By ApunKaChoice Bureau Glamour and glitter marked the premiere of the coloured version of classic film Mughal-e Azam in Mumbai on Wednesday night. Its black and white version was released four decades back. The film, which was screened for a select audience at the Eros theatre in south Mumbai, witnessed several prominent actors. 
Besides scenes from the film, palace doorways studded with ornamental work of fine wire formed into delicate tracery, faux doorways adorned with crimson curtains and a specially decorated palanquin was erected in the theatre precincts to recreate the magic of Mughal era. A galaxy of stars including thespian and the male lead in the movie Dilip Kumar , his wife Saira Bano, Rekha , Sridevi , Tabu , Akshay Khanna , Anil Kapoor , Govinda were among those present for the screening. Speaking on the occasion, Dilip Kumar described the occasion as a highly emotional one and said that the coloured version had increased the movie's appeal four-fold. Saira Bano said though her husband had missed the first premiere of the film, she herself was lucky to attend both the premiers. Reacting to the film, which has a dolby sound besides being in colour, Tabu said she had been impatiently waiting for the film's release while actor-turned MP Govinda described it as a legend. Aishwarya Rai said the movie was a "classic in which the charm of Madhubala was exquisite and eternal.
