SCOOP!! & NEWS Jo Bole So Nihaal withdrawn from Delhi cinema halls24th May 2005 09.15 IST By Agencies A day after consecutive blasts rocked two Delhi theatres, controversial Bollywood movie Jo Bole So Nihaal was on Monday withdrawn from all cinema halls in the national capital and neighbouring Gurgaon and Faridabad. There was "no screening" of the film, embroiled in a controversy over some scenes allegedly offending the religious sentiments of Sikhs in Delhi today, he said.
"Though the bomb blast in two theatres in Delhi was a freak incident caused by some mischievous elements, we have decided to withdraw screening of the film from all cinema halls in the capital," President of the National Association of Motion Pictures Exhibitors Shashang Raizada said in New Delhi. "We have decided to withdraw the film from Delhi theatres owing to the controversy regarding it," he added. Vice-President Marketing of leading multiplex group Priya Village Roadshow (PVR) Cinema, Tushar Dhingra said. "We have withdrawn the film's screening from all our 10 PVRs at Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Bangalore, in consultation with the police and the local administration." Meanwhile, a high alert had been sounded in Gurgaon Range after the twin blasts. "District Magistrates of Gurgaon and Faridabad postponed the shows of Jo Bole So Nihaal for the time being," Deepa Mehta Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gurgaon Range said. She said extra forces have been deputed near cinema halls and malls and directions given to general public regarding bombs and explosives.
