Reversing the usual order, Sahara one TV would first release its mega films on the small screen before they hit the theatres.
According to the channel sources, the first of the films to be released on Sahara one TV before theatres this month would be Hum Jo Keh Naa Paye, Tum Ho Na and Pehchaan.
Hum Jo Keh Naa Paaye, directed by Vikas Desai starring Abhijit Sanyal, Gauri Karnik and Anupam Kher, would be released on June 10 while Tum Ho Na directed by Raj Bharat, starring Jackie Shroff , Riya Sen and Nethra Raghuraman, would be aired on June 17. Pehchaan would be aired on June 24.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "In the West, when films are made, the studio analyses whether the film is a theatrical, a DVD or a television release but in India this has never happened."
Explaining the concept, Purnendu Bose of Sahara One said, "The small screen is getting bigger and bigger. Today, cable and satellite television reaches 44 million homes. If mega movies are all about entertaining masses, TV offers much greater reach with depth and width across the country and that is the reason we have decided to release the films on TV first."
However, following the convention of movie releases on Friday, the movies would be released every Friday at 8.30 pm on Sahara one, he said.
