The Delhi High Court on Friday gave a week’s time to Karisma Kapoor to file her reply to the petition by her estranged husband Sunjay Kapur seeking to restrain her from going abroad with their 4-month-old daughter Samaira.

Justice Mukul Mudgal sought the reply from the actress by August 19 on the allegation by her husband that the passport of their minor child was made by flouting all laws and without his consent.

The court fixed August 26 for further hearing on the matter asking Kapur to file the rejoinder within five days after the reply is filed by Karisma.

The crumbling of marriage between the celebrity couple became public on August 5 when Kapur secured an order from the High Court restraining Karisma from going abroad with their daughter.

The court had directed the actress not to take their child outside the country without the written consent of her husband.

Kapur had submitted that he had come to know that Karisma was planning to leave for United States along with Samaira and alleged that he was not taken into confidence.

The court had also issued notices to the Centre and the Regional Passport Office (RPO).

Karisma’s industrialist husband had contended that the RPO arbitrarily and illegally issued a passport to his daughter as her residential address is covered by his New Delhi address.

He had submitted that for Samaira’s passport, it could only be applied at the Regional Passport Office in the capital as Karisma’s matrimonial home is in Delhi.

Kapur claimed that he had written a letter to External Affairs Minister asking him to probe the matter and alerting all immigration points so that his daughter could not be taken out of the country.

A letter was also written to the Regional Passport Office, Mumbai seeking explanation for the basis on which passport was issued for his child.
