HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | HAPPENINGS Cong storm over objectionable Mangal Pandey04th Oct 2005 13.23 IST By Agencies An enquiry will be held into how some portions, said to be objectionable, in the Aamir Khan starrer 'Mangal Pandey - The Rising ' were cleared by the Censor Board. This was stated by senior Congress leader Mohsina Kidwai in Ballia today. 
She would take up the matter with Information and Broadcasting Minister Jaipal Reddy, the Congress leader told reporters in Ballia. She would also apprise Congress President Sonia Gandhi about the feeling of people in Mangal Pandey's home district. Raghunath Pandey, Vice Principal of a Kendriya Vidyalaya in New Delhi and his son Omkar Nath Pandey - descendants of the martyr's brother Lalit Pandey - have filed a suit seeking an unconditional apology from all those involved in the making of the film for allegedly showing Mangal Pandey as an alcoholic involved in a relationship with a prostitute. The plaintiffs, hailing from Nagwa in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh, accused defendants of deliberately depicting sexuality and drama to make it a masala movie.
