HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | HAPPENINGS Indian film festival in Canada 31st July 2006  09.16 IST By Agencies   A film festival highlighting the social, cultural and political themes of emerging India and offering an insight into the Indian way of life, will begin in Canadian capital Ottawa next week. The festival, organized by the Indian High Commission in cooperation with the Canadian Film Institute, will begin on August 11 and run through August 26. The films shown at the festival will include commercially and critically successful Bollywood movies like Amitabh Bachchan – Hema Malini starrer Baghban , Amol Palekar 's Paheli , noted South Indian actress-director Revathy 's Phir Milenge that deals with HIV/AIDS, and Mahesh Manjrekar 's Viruddh . 'Titli', the Bangla film by Rituparno Ghosh , Sudhir Mishra 's Chameli , and Jahnu Barua's Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara will also be screened at the festival. A large number of people, including Canadian filmmakers and journalists are expected to participate in the event.
