Shekhar Kapoor has decided to make a movie based on Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet', but with a twist it will be set in times of acute water shortages.
An agency report states that Kapoor’s take on the Shakespeare classic would be relevant to contemporary viewers because water shortages are on the rise.
But Kapoor didn't reveal any details about how he would work the theme of water shortages into Romeo and Juliet, but said he tentatively plans to call the movie 'Paani'.
It wasn't clear if the story would be set in the present day or the future, or whether the movie would be in English or Hindi.
"It's a very relevant film for today's times," the report quoted Kapoor as saying. "It is an adaptation of 'Romeo and Juliet', but in times where there would be a huge scarcity of water."
