A court in Hyderabad has recalled a non-bailable warrant issued against thespian Dilip Kumar in a case related to the bouncing of a cheque.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate K Surya Rao on Friday issued an order recalling the warrant in response to a petition filed by Kumar's counsel.
The recall order was passed on January 8, Kumar's counsel Jaiswal said.
The judge had issued the warrant in February last year against the actor and 20 others, including some directors of Geekay Exim (India), which had issued a cheque for Rs 1 crore to a Hyderabad-based Deccan Cements in 1998.
The 84-year-old actor moved the Supreme Court last year, seeking a stay of the proceedings and exemption from personal appearance in court through his counsel Harish Salve.
The apex court had in August last year granted an interim stay on the warrant and directed Kumar's counsel to move an appropriate application before the trial court.
