Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan , admitted to a Mumbai hospital last week after he complained of chest pain, was discharged on Sunday.
"Saif Ali Khan was discharged this afternoon and is fine now," said an official of the Lilavati Hospital, where the 38-year-old was kept under observation.
Saif underwent angiography test at the hospital.
Saif, son of yesteryear cricketer Mansur Ali Khan and actress Sharmila Tagore , complained of chest pain just before the 'Stardust' award function was to begin on February 18.
He was adjudged the best actor in a negative role at the function for his performance in Omkara and was rehearsing for a dance performance when he felt the pain.
Saif was accompanied by his mother, actress-sister Soha Ali Khan and girlfriend Rosa after he was discharged.
Talking to reporters outside the hospital, Saif said "everything is fine" and he would be back at work as soon as possible.
Referring to the precautions the doctors had asked him to take, he said, "My doctor just told me to stop smoking.
"I will be back at work as soon as possible. I can start work yesterday. We were lucky. It was close."
Asked if he would obey the doctors' suggestions, Saif said, "Of course."
