'Shootout At Lokhandwala' passed without cuts

Producer Sanjay Gupta was in for a real surprise when his upcoming cops-and-gangster drama Shootout At Lokhandwala was cleared by the censor board without any cuts.

And what's more, people of all ages can see the flick that has got a U certificate.

An overjoyed Gupta said: "We expected a lot of opposition and requests for cuts considering the violent nature of the content. To my director Apoorva Lakhia and my surprise, the censor board members loved the film and thought any cut would impede the fast narrative flow. They also told me not to go for a UA but a straight U certificate. I'm in a state of pleasant shock."

With the censor board's clearance, the film, based on a true incident in Mumbai in 1991, releases May 25.

Gupta has taken the entire cast and crew of his 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' on a road trip to Pune to promote the film and a grand bash has been planned for the premier there on Thursday.

"We have planned a premiere on Thursday at the In-Orbit Mall. We've booked the entire mall. And at the centre of the mall we're putting up a stage. We've got all the musicians who've contributed to the film including Strings, Euphoria, Anand Raj and also the entire cast performing live in the mall from 8 pm to 9 pm," said Gupta.

"The event would be thrown open to everyone in the mall. Even the film's screening after the live performance won't be elitist but more fun-filled. Then post the premiere we'll have a party with dinner and drinks," he added.

"We've taken official permission to party till 4 am. There have been other premiers at In-Orbit. But never this kind of a full-on event," said Gupta.
