HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | HAPPENINGS Rahul Bose for better children's movies20th June 2007 09.00 IST By Agencies Children's films have a huge market potential in India and time is ripe for government agencies like NFDC to consider joint production with private financiers to make movies that would suit the tastes of today's youngsters, feels Rahul Bose , the actor who has come to be known as the face of experimental cinema in Bollywood. "Getting the funding for children's movies is an important issue. The agencies like NFDC or Children's Film Society of India can be fantastic vehicles for co-production. Entering into joint ventures with independent producers may be useful," he says.
Bose, who was in New Delhi for the promotion of his upcoming film ‘Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii’, a fun-and-fantasy flick about the journey of a boy from an orphanage to the Indian cricket team with a "magic bat", says children's movies should be in tune with the mindset of the present generation. "Kids who grow up on Xbox and Harry Potter, will demand quality entertainment. The film should look on par with the other sources of entertainment they have access to," feels Bose, who says his favourite children's film is Shekhar Kapoor 's Mr. India . "Children should be treated as young adults", says Bose, describing as a "fantastic experience" working with child actors in the Ken co-produced film that also features 13-year-old Zain Khan, a regular face in television advertisements, in the role of the boy-hero. He himself plays the captain of the Indian team, a sober and patriotic man, says Bose, who incidentally considers representing India in a Rugby tournament in Singapore as one of his most memorable moments.
