HOME | SCOOP!! & NEWS | HAPPENINGS Excel Home Video releases 'Lagaan' DVD23rd June 2007 10.00 IST By Agencies Six years after its theatrical release, the DVD of Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan was released by Excel Home Video. The DVD was launched by Aamir for the first time in India. To mark the occasion and the sixth anniversary of the Oscar Nominated blockbuster, a limited special anniversary edition set was launched. The set released by Excel Home Videos contains DVDs of ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Chale Chalo’ and rare movie memorabilia, which are a first in the Indian market.
“‘Lagaan’ is personally close to my heart .We have painstakingly endeavored to make the DVDs a collector’s item in the true sense of the word,” Aamir said at the launch in Mumbai. The set is uniquely packaged in a specially crafted wooden box. Each anniversary pack contains a special caricature of the ‘Lagaan’ team created by Dhimant Vyas carved on it. There is also an exclusive 35 mm cinemascope filmstrip, especially hand-cut from the actual print of the movie giving everyone a chance to own the unique filmstrip. The pack also contains rare collectible cards that take you through the special moments of the movie and a copper coin stamped with the character of ‘Bhuvan’. The collectible coin comes embedded in a card with a special message from Aamir. The ‘Lagaan’ DVD is digitally mastered in brilliant crystal clear Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 Surround Sound making it only the second Hindi film on DVD to have this technology to enhance the overall visual and audio experience. The limited edition box set is priced at Rs 1999. There is also the regular DVD and VCD priced at Rs 399 and Rs 199 respectively.
