Five decades after its first theatrical release, B.R. Chopra 's evergreen classic 'Naya Daur' will be released all over India on August 3 in its coloured version with Dolby digital surround sound.
The music re-release of the Dilip Kumar -Vaijantimala starrer Monday evening at Mumbai's JW Marriott in suburban Juhu, was a coming together of legends of the film fraternity.
B R Chopra, who is now confined to a wheelchair due to his advanced age, made a public appearance after several years. He was accompanied by his son Ravi Chopra .
Thespian Dilip Kumar accompanied by actress-producer wife Saira Banu , veteran singer Asha Bhosle , and Chopra's younger brother Yash Chopra were present on the occasion.
The film originally released on August 15, 1957, and was a big hit at the time.
Asha, who claimed that she got her first big break with this film, released the music.
It was Ravi who decided that ‘Naya Daur’ should be re-released in colour with Dolby digital sound.
Ravi said he learnt everything from his dad, uncle and the other stars on stage, adding that this film was a tribute to them.
