The film industry though dejected with the imminent arrest of Salman Khan in the chinkara poaching case has come out strongly in support of the judiciary.

"We are all very disturbed. Salman is a sincere and good human being. But at the same time, he has made a mistake and the judiciary has done its job," Pahlaj Nihalani , president of Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers, said in Mumbai.

Salman faces an arrest warrant after a Jodhpur court rejected an appeal against his conviction in the poaching case and upheld his five-year jail term awarded by a lower court.

Salman was convicted on April 10 last year for poaching two blackbucks at Ujiyala Bhakhar near Ghoda Farm on September 28, 1998 during the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya 's film Hum Saath Saath Hain .

Nihalani said Salman's arrest would not have an adverse impact on the industry as he was working in a couple of films.

"The senior actors today are working selectively. So not much movies are in queue. He is working for a Boney Kapoor film and one of his own home productions. Both Salman and Sanjay Dutt have completed most of their films," he said.

But, industry is not bothered about the commercial impact. We are only concerned about the well being of both Salman and Sanjay Dutt, who are fighting for justice, he said.

Producer-director Lawrence D'Souza who directed Salman in blockbuster ‘Saajan’ said the actor was being targetted because he was a celebrity.

"People get away with bigger crime but Salman, who is a good soul and does not believe in harming anybody, is being targeted as he is a celebrity," D'Souza said.

"I felt bad that the actor who has been doing lot of charity work and also helping out people in every way he can is being targeted," he added.

Bollywood actor Govinda , who recently acted with Salman in Partner , also seemed to be upset with the actor's conviction and said, "Controversies often surround young stars. I will pray for him."

Bhojpuri film industry superstar Ravi Kishen said he was personally very pained to learn Salman's fate.

"He is a very dear friend of mine. So I am very pained. But, we all respect the judiciary. There is a law of land and we all have to abide by it," Kishen said.

Amrit Sagar, director and grandson of producer-director Ramanand Sagar, too acknowledged the judiciary's stand and said, "I can't comment much. But I have full faith in the judiciary."
