The Supreme Court Wednesday declined to entertain a petition seeking to stop the broadcast of popular song 'Ganpat' from Hindi film Shootout At Lokhandwala .
A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan dismissed the petition filed by an apex court advocate, who alleged the song lowered the dignity and respect of women.
Advocate Jyotica Kalra had objected to the song contending that the song titled 'Ganpat' did not stand the test of decency and morality.
The PIL had sought a direction for the Censor Board to withdraw the certificate granted to the producer of the film Balaji Motion Pictures Ltd.
The board had given 'A' certificate to the film.
The advocate had sought that the song should not be allowed to be played on television, radio and cassettes.
