London Mayor Ken Livingstone felicitated Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan with "The Visit London Special Award for Outstanding Achievement" for his contribution to Indian cinema in the last 30 years.
Commending Bachchan's contribution to Hindi cinema, Livingstone said in Mumbai on Thursday, "He is the best known film actor."
Livingstone is on a weeklong tour of India to strengthen relations between the two countries.
"Tonight will be a fantastic celebration of the arts in London and India, and provides a glimpse of some of the best talent from the two great creative countries. It also reflects my personal commitment to deepen the understanding and respect for each other through a greater appreciation of our respective cultures," he said in a statement.
