MP Court directs police to submit report on 'Aaja Nachle'

A Jabalpur court asked the police to submit their report on a complaint, filed before it, alleging that casteist remarks were made against members of a community in the title song of Madhuri Dixit starrer Aaja Nachle .

Judicial magistrate (first class) Monday asked the police to submit the report by December 10 on a complaint filed by one Bhagilal on December 1.

The complainant had sought registration of cases under various sections of IPC and Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribes Atrocities (Prevention) Act against Madhuri, film's producer Aditya Chopra , director Anil Mehta , lyricist Jaideep Mika, musician Salim Sulemani and Censor Board Chairperson Sharmila Tagore .

Bhagilal had alleged that certain words used in the title song, released ahead of the movie that marked the return of Madhuri into the celluloid world, were insulting to members of a particular community.

Meanwhile in Bihar, authorities have asked film distributors in the state to delete the objectionable references to a particular dalit community in the title song before screening it in the theatres.

"The distributors of the film have been asked to delete the portion of the objectionable song in the film if they want the government to allow its screening," Patna District Magistrate, B Rajender, said on Monday.

The film is yet to be released in theatres across the state.

When contacted, Rajender, however, said he was not aware as to when the film would be released in Bihar.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana governments, which had banned the film, allowed its screening after the objectionable portions of the song were deleted.
