Rakhi Sawant alleges cheating in 'Nach Baliye 3'

Item girl Rakhi Sawant has filed a criminal complaint against Star Plus channel alleging them of cheating after she lost in the finals of reality show 'Nach Baliye 3'.

Rakhi, who along with beau Abhishek Awasthi lost in the final round to TV actors Sanjida Sheikh and Amir Ali, alleged in her complaint filed in the Oshiwara police station that the channel deliberately prevented her from winning the contest.

The winner in the show was selected on the basis of SMS voting by the viewers.

At a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday, Rakhi alleged that voting was manipulated and SMSes in her favour were blocked.

The channel was trying to promote its own shows by ensuring victory for those who act in them, she added.

Both Sanjida and Amir act in different serials aired on Star Plus.

Rakhi challenged other contestants saying, "I and Abhishek will be performing on 31st night, which will be a challenge for us and everybody else. People will come to know the real abilities of Rakhi and Abhishek."

But Star Plus has rejected charges of manipulation levelled it by Rakhi and dismissed it as her publicity stunt.

"We really don't know why Rakhi is going hammer and tongs against us. She has not yet established any direct contact with us. She has only been speaking to the media. Hence, we believe that it is a publicity stunt," General Manager, Star Plus, Ketan Adyanath said.

"For us, the show was over on Saturday night. But it seems she wants to continue the show for gaining more publicity. It is a known fact that these artists make a lot of money through public performances. So more the publicity, better it is for them," Adyanath said.

"Till the time she was in the race, she had no problems when other couples lost. As soon as she lost in the final round, she alleged manipulation against us," he said.

On the allegation of a faulty audience poll system, Adyanath said every time only the losing contestants complain.

"They may feel their hard work got wasted. But it is not just hard work that counts. The audience too has to feel convinced with a contestant's performances," he said.
