Protests over Jodhaa Akbar continued in several parts of the country on Sunday, with youths disrupting its screening at a Gurgaon Mall and a mob attacking a hall in Ahmedabad, where multiplexes temporarily stopped showing the film.

In the satellite town of Gurgaon near the national capital, around 100 youths belonging to the Rajput community disrupted the screening of the Ashutosh Gowarikar film at the PVR multiplex at Metropolitan Mall.

The screening of the film was closed following the protest. The youths also pulled down and burnt posters of the movie. Police detained three youths for using abusive languages against the staff of the multiplex but later released them. The protestors demanded that the film be banned in Gurgaon for distorting history.

Most of the multiplexes in Ahmedabad temporarily stopped screening of the Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer after a group of around 25 people came to all the multiplexes and warned against showing the film.

A group of people also vandalised a single-screen cinema hall in Naroda area of the city, which was screening the movie. There were also protests in Surat, where the film was screened in presence of heavy police bandobast in most of the cinema halls and multiplexes.

A group of around 25 people broke glass doors, windows and furniture of Galaxy Cinema Hall, police said. Police brought the rampage under control by mild lathicharge, officials said, adding that they have detained three people.

The police were not aware of the political or social affiliations of the group, which attacked the cinema hall.

This is first such attack on cinema hall screening the film in Gujarat. The film has not been allowed to be screened in Rajasthan following protest by Rajput groups.

The VHP has backed the Rajput community in their protest against the film. VHP leader Pravin Togadia said that Rajput community is justified in opposing the screening because it had "distorted" facts.

Meanwhile, reports coming from Surat said that the Rajput community members had protested against the screening of 'Jodhaa Akbar' in front of a Kinnari cinema hall.

The film is being screened in presence of heavy police bandobast in most of the cinema halls and multiplexes in Surat.

A group of about 50 Rajput youths under the banner of Kshatriya Yuva Morcha assembled before the famous Ashok Cinema in Patna and tried to force their way inside but were prevented by security men. They then tore some posters put up on the walls and also burnt them before being chased away by police.
