The Bombay High Court Wednesday dismissed a PIL filed by a city-based NGO which sought action against producer/director of Jodhaa Akbar for allegedly treating animals with cruelty during its shoot.
"You could file a complaint with the Magistrate. But you come to High Court because press covers High Court," said Justice Bilal Nazki.
The petitioner of "People for Animals" had claimed that during the shooting of Ashutosh Gowarikar 's period movie starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan , animals such as elephants and horses were subjected to cruelty.
But the division bench of Justices Bilal Nazki and Sharad Bobde refused to entertain the PIL saying if any offences were indeed made out, the petitioner may approach the Magistrate's court and file a private complaint.
