National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE) has decided to move Goa High Court against Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan , after a lower court cleared him in a case of an alleged violation of Goa’s anti-smoking law on technical grounds.
NOTE had filed a case against the Big B after a poster showed him puffing a cigar.
NOTE’s Shekhar Salkar said they would move high court in the next four to five days. NOTE had filed a case against Bachchan under the provisions of the Goa Prohibition of Smoking and Spitting Act, 1997.
"I am aggrieved as NOTE’s contention was overlooked. We have decided, if required, to even approach Supreme Court in the matter. The law is clear on the matter," Salkar said.
Salkar said even if Bachchan claims he wasn’t smoking on the hoarding and that he was only holding the cigarette, it can’t be justified.
