Bollywood sex-kitten Mallika Sherawat has won a civil suit to get her rented property in North Delhi vacated from a tenant who had not paid his rent dues.
"In my considered opinion upon totality of evidence led by Reema Lamba (the official name of the actress) through her attorney, she is found entitled for recovery of possession of suit premises here, which is in possession of defendant (Anuj Kumar Aggarwal)," Civil Judge Shunali Gupta said Thursday.
The property measuring 566 square feet is located at Mukherjee Nagar in New Delhi.
Mallika had filed the plaint before the court in 2007 seeking a decree of possession as well as arrears of the rent of Rs 1,42,000 from Aggarwal.
She claimed that Aggarwal, proprietor of M/s Career Plus, was granted possession of the property through a lease in January 1998 with the condition that there would be an annual increase of 20 per cent in rent.
In a suit, filed through her brother Vikram Lamba, she alleged that the enhanced rent was not paid by Aggarwal.
The court, however, dismissed her plea for recovery of arrears of rent saying that there was nothing to substantiate that she had ever demanded the enhanced rent at any point of time.
