A R Rahman likely to perform at Oscars

Rahman, who has got three Oscar nominations (for Best Music Score and his two songs ‘Jai Ho’ and ‘O Saya’), will reportedly perform one of his nominated songs at the 81st Annual Academy Awards night to be held on February 22.

Reports say Rahman wants to perform ‘Jai Ho’ and singer Sukhwinder Singh will also join the music maestro for the performance.


So far both Rahman and Sukhwinder are keeping hush-hush because they are awaiting an official confirmation from the Academy.

But if the duo does perform on stage at the Oscars, it would be perhaps the first ever by an Indian composer at the prestigious American award show that’s watched by millions around the world.

It is going to be a big night for Indians as Danny Boyle’s movie Slumdog Millionaire which is set in Mumbai and stars Indian actors like Anil Kapoor , Irrfan Khan , Dev Patel and Freida Pinto , is nominated in seven other categories, including Best Motion Picture.
