Akshay Kumar has taken from Shahrukh Khan the position of no. 1 tax payer of Bollywood.With the New Year, comes the time to pay our taxes, and our film industry which earns in millions is no exception. According to recent reports, Akshay Kumar is the highest tax payer in Bollywood this year as the King Kumar has paid Rs 19 crore leaving behind Shahrukh Khan at no.2 position. Till last year, Shahrukh was the highest tax payer in Bollywood. He paid Rs 27 crore last year. While this time it was only Rs 15 crore for him, as he had only one big release, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , which got a good opening. In the third place we have Hrithik Roshan , who paid Rs 7 crore, with not a single release, but the actor is earning more through endorsements rather than films. In fourth position there is Aamir Khan who paid Rs 7 crore this time, whereas last year he had paid Rs 6 crore, when had only one movie Taare Zameen Par . It is learned that the actor has already paid advance taxes of Rs 3 crore. 
Talking about Bollywood’s mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan – he paid Rs 8 crore in income tax last year. Though Bachchan raised his fee in 2008, he is no more among the highest paid actors in Bollywood. But he is endorsing as many products as he can. Well, the credit of Akshay Kumar’s success goes to his line of hit movies like Namastey London , Heyy Babyy , Bhool Bhulaiyaa , Welcome and one of the biggest movie of 2008 Singh Is Kinng . And not to forget Chandni Chowk To China which is just round the corner. |
