Shilpa Shetty donates generously for green campaign

The actress, who recently bought a stake in the IPL team Rajasthan Royals, has donated a generous amount of Rs. 1.2 million for NDTV's Greenathon, a campaign initiated by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

The donation money would be used in support of TERI's 'Lighting a Billion Lives' project to provide solar power to four villages – each costing Rs. 3,00,000 – across India.


Among other Bollywood stars, Shahrukh Khan and his Billu Barber team adopted five villages with the donation amount of Rs. 1.5 million, while Akshay Kumar 's son Aarav became the youngest donor of the campaign by adopting one village.

Others who donated for the campaign include Sanjay Dutt and wife Manyata, Preity Zinta , Arjun Rampal , Vivek Oberoi and cricketer Yuvraj Singh.
