Shilpa Shetty saddened by Jade Goody's death

Shilpa had rushed to London on March 15 to bid her final farewell to Jade, but could not meet her because of Goody's deteriorating and grave condition that allowed no visitors. Finally, the inevitable happened in the wee hours of Sunday when the terminally ill British TV reality star died in her sleep at her home in Upshire, Essex.

In a statement issued by her publicist, Shilpa said: “I am deeply saddened by the news… Words cannot express how I feel.”


Shilpa said the only consolation she can take out of Jade’s death is that her (Jade’s) pain is over.

“In hindsight (I’m) glad she (Jade) is out of pain and passed away peacefully in her sleep. Words cannot express how I feel but my heartfelt condolences to the family.” Shilpa is quoted as saying.

Shilpa and Jade had a strange relation. They started off as foes when Jade made Shilpa’s life difficult on the 2007 British reality show ‘Big Brother’ with her allegedly racial and derogatory blusters against the Bollywood actress. It’s only after the show was over that Shilpa and Jade began to become friends. Jade even came to India last year to participate in the reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ but bowed out of the programme after learning about her cervical cancer. Since then Shilpa has been in touch with her.
