Shiney Ahuja remanded to 3-day police custody on rape charges

The actor was arrested Monday morning and produced in Andheri court. He has been booked under three sections – rape (section 376), criminal intimidation (506) and wrongful confinement (339).

Shiney was earlier detained on Sunday evening after his domestic help, who’s been working at the actor’s residence since one-and-a-half months, approached the Oshiwara police and complained that she had been raped by the actor earlier in the day.


The incident reportedly happened when Shiney was alone at his Oshiwara residence with his maid. According to the maid’s version, Shiney took her to bedroom and raped her and later intimidated her.

In fact, a news report quotes a senior police officer as saying that Shiney broke down during interrogation and admitted his guilt. But the actor reportedly claimed that the sex was consensual.

If found guilty, Shiney could face imprisonment for 10 years.

Shiney is married and has a two-year-old daughter.
