Star Screen Awards – Hrithik best actor, Priyanka best actress

The MMRDA grounds in Mumbai saw the presence of a galaxy of stars from the tinsel town. The show was hosted by Sajid Khan , Farah Khan and Shreyas Talpade with spoofs on some of the popular films of the year like Karzzzz , Dostana and Fashion .

In the Popular Awards category, in which awards are chosen through a system of sms and e-mail voting by Screen readers, Akshay Kumar was chosen as the Best Actor (popular category) for Singh Is Kinng and Aishwarya Rai won the Best Female Actor (popular) for Jodhaa Akbar .


However, Akshay Kumar, in his acceptance speech, said: “According to me, the best actor is Aamir Khan for Ghajini . This is for you Aamir, from me and the people."

Hrithik won Best Actor (Male) for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ and Priyanka won Best Actor (Female) for ‘Fashion’.

‘Jodhaa Akbar’ was also adjudged the Best Film of the year, and Ashutosh Gowarikar was named Best Director. A Wednesday got the Ramnath Goenka Award and its director Neeraj Pandey won the Best Debut Director trophy. ‘A Wednesday’ also won award for Best Story.

The show also saw on-stage performance by Katrina Kaif , Bipasha Basu , Deepika Padukone , Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma .

Best Editing: Rock On .
Best Art Direction: Rock On
Best Cinematography: Rock On
