The Selva-directed ‘Rameswaram’ focuses a sympathetic camera on the life of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees who have taken shelter in various camps in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.
Upcoming hero Jeeva is cast in the lead role. Jeeva plays a Tamil youth trying to come to terms with life in a refugee camp, uprooted from his home turf.
Beauteous Bhavana plays the daughter of a rich man (Lal) who develops a soft corner for the Tamil youth.
The film, produced by S N Raja, will have Manivannan and Vennira Adai Nirmala in important roles.
The movie, which will see the light of the day by the month end, has music by Niru, which has already become popular.
It will be a lifetime role for young Jeeva, who has lost weight to look the character and learnt the Lankan Tamil dialect.
As for Bhavana, who is doing well in Kollywood, the role offers a real opportunity to display her acting prowess.
The film, director Selvam feels, will strike a sympathetic chord among the Tamil audience.
